Now that I think about it, why couldn't they be proposed "officially" by win3x.org like other drivers ? Afterall, they work on windows 3, so why not ? ^^

Which of the old projects do you find meritorious of a new thread?

It seems to me that it makes no sense to propose what is already.
Were you proposing that I release new programming projects?

To me, all the drivers could go here viewforum.php?f=8 alongside the other drivers we already have (some like USB drivers for 98 viewtopic.php?f=8&t=1638 aren't genuine either, so why leaving these in a other place ?)

You find the USB drivers for 98 inauthentic or ungenuine?
Well... it does appear that they are not genuinely compatible with Win3x.

I asked permission from Microsoft before I started writing Windows 3.1 drivers.
These are my original and authentic creations.
Are they not the "Genuine" product of my time and effort?

Are you saying that you have actually proved one of my drivers? :approve:
Add a listing to that section and I'll see if I can expand upon the subject.

Hello,
I am a Retro Windows enthusiast and I am very interested in testing the HDA audio driver. The lack of contact method forced me to make an account here, but I hope to bond with this community too :)

I have tried your HDA Audio driver for Windows 3.1 on Windows ME and the driver it not appear to work. Could it be possible for you to compile a Windows 95/98/ME driver? The Windows 9x community has been HUNGRY to find such a wonderful driver! It's magical such a thing can even exist for Windows 3.1.

Your HDA driver attracted quite a bit of attention at MSFN forums.
https://msfn.org/board/topic/178295-aud ... -hardware/

They say the driver actually runs better on Windows 98 w/ DirectX 9! It may not be a surprise because I believe the original Windows 2000 version required it!

Please let me know if you intend on updating the driver. Thank you for your time! :)

You mean the old win3x driver I wrote for my i7-960 Sabertooth X58 computer?
I've done nothing to the HDA driver in quite some time.

Although my old forum's host closed down, I saved some of the old forum posts.

Perhaps they will be of help to you.

Although I have @yahoo.com email,
for public conversations an open forum is most appropriate.

I'm not certain what help I could be to a pack of ravenous Win9x users.
I don't know how to make drivers for 95,98,ME,DirectX9 or Windows 2000.

I can create and work with 16-bit drivers and software.
So, If it is your intention to create or release a 32-bit HDA driver, then the way is clear.
I will offer you no competition. :D

The last thing I released was in January 2020...
It was for my Exemzne project.
I created and added a program for viewing 16-bit code segments.

I'm running Windows 3.11 on a Ryzen 3900x, it works fine and even goes in enhanced mode. (after some fiddling) I have 64K colors via Voodoo 3 PCI, LAN via Intel DOS drivers and sound via Creative PCI64 (ES1373) & Watler's drivers.

Yesterday I have installed Watler's drivers and they worked without any additional settings. But... any mouse movement will cause sound to lag (like some invisible DJ is lowering BPM :? ). Playing an mp3 will cause the most serious lags & crazy squeaks. When playing some sounds from Encarta the effect is not that severe (less compression) but lags and squeaks are still present.

Any ideas how to fix this, don t tell me that a Zen 2 core @ 3.8 Ghz is too slow. :D

I encountered problems too, when I played mp3 files with a Sound Blaster PCI 128. The sound driver from watlers_world provides the basic sound feature (it's better than nothing) but it's far from perfect. The windows sounds are properly played, but it's quite buggy for more demanding tasks. My tested computer was much slower (Pentium III 550 MHz) but that's obviously not the problem. Windows 3.11 works even on an 386SX and mp3 files can be played without lag on a Pentium or lower.

OMORES, that sounds like a neat system to play with.
Did you examine the included file "readme.txt"?

Perhaps I should have another look at that driver. :?
Since the different data rates, freqencies and bit-rates are played with different settings,
could you please tell me which output formats work best for you?

Since most 30pin motherboards have less 8mb or less of ram, I could not recommend 3.11 or MP3 files for them.
Big Monstro, it sounds as though you have one monstrous 386SX.

OMORES, Big Monstro, Feel free to tell more about your win3x machines. :approve:
