ESS Technology Incorporated is a private manufacturer of computer multimedia products, ADCs and DACs. It was created in 1984 ; their activity was to create synthetic speech for computers like the Commodore 64. In the 1990's, they created the "AudioDrive" serie of cards, a clone of the Creative Sound Blaster Pro that incorporated a clone of the Yamaha OPL3 FM synth (named "ESFM") that creates sounds quite similar to the original. The PCI models like the ES1938 Solo-1 have a really interesting characteristic : it has an excellent DOS compatibility by using interfaces such as "Distributed DMA" (DDMA) or "SB_Link". Here you will find drivers for ESS AudioDrive audio controllers: ES488, ES688, ES888, ES968, ES1488, ES1688, ES1788, ES1868, ES1869, ES1878, ES1879, ES1888, ES1978 and ES1938 Solo-1. ESS Technology Incorporated est un fabricant privé de produits multimédia pour ordinateur, de CNA et de CAN. L'entreprise fût fondée en 1984 ; ils débutèrent leur activité dans la production de voix synthétique notamment pour le monde du Commodore 64. Dans les années 1990, ils créèrent la série de carte "AudioDrive", un clone de la Sound Blaster Pro de Creative incorporant un clone de synthétiseur FM Yamaha OPL3 (nommé "ESFM") possédant un son très similaire à l'original. Les modèles PCI comme l'ES1938 Solo-1 possède également une caractéristique fort intéressante puisqu'elle permet une excellente compatibilité MS-DOS en utilisant des interfaces comme le "Distributed DMA" (DDMA) ou encore le "SB_Link".
