Hello,
i need to virtualize or emulate a device named SIM CARD READER or SMART CARD READER.
Is that possible ?

SIM CARD READER is a device that allows you to insert your cellular sim card and then retrieve information from your sim card but i have not got it so i need to virtualize or emulate it like a VIRTUAL sim card reader.
Is it possible ?

I read VMWARE FUSION allows it but at the moment i have only got MICROSOFT VIRTUAL PC as hardware emulator.
Bye.

Hello pierini1 and welcome to Win3x.Org!

What do you mean by "virtualize or emulate a device named SIM CARD READER"? Because you talked about VMware and Virtual PC, I suppose you want a virtualization program to use your sim card reader inside a virtual machine (possibly due to an incompatibility between your device and a modern PC operating system).

Your device likely uses USB whereas Microsoft Virtual PC cannot emulate that technology. Switch to another solution, such as VMware, VirtualBox or Windows Virtual PC to enjoy USB support.

Best regards,

well, i need to create a VIRTUAL smart card reader because i have not got any real smart card reader device.
Smart card reader is a device you can put your cellular sim card inside it so your sim card can be analized to recover your deleted SMS or call logs, etc....
So is it possible to create a virtual smart card reader ?
For example, it is very simple to create a virtual CD ROM drive with daemontools so is it possible to create a virtual smart card reader too ?

Virtual CD ROM drive works with BIN, IMG, ISO, MDS, MDX files; their contents simulate physical CDs.

Similar principle also applies to floppy disks (virtual medias represented by IMA, IMG or VFD files).

I don't know if a such thing even exists for SIM card. Anyway, I never used it, so I cannot help you.

That site is dedicated for ancient PCs running DOS or Windows, not old mobile phones.

No, it's not possible to create a virtual smart card reader...
Sorry

are you sure smart card reader can NOT be emulated or virtualized ?

Because i found these web referencies about creating it :uh: :

These links are about using a physical card reader inside a virtual machine.

You plug a physical card reader to a host machine, then you share it with VMs.

In contrast, you would like to use a virtual card reader: a such thing doesn't exist.
