Hi guys! Today I installed Windows 3.1 on my Asus F9E laptop which has Realtek High Definition Audio soundcard. So I decided to install the Watlers' world's driver for HD Audio from here: http://turkeys4me.byethosts4.com/programs/HDADRV9L.zip. I followed the instructions from the Readme.txt file, but the sound seems not working. So what can I do to get the sound working?

The driver isn't guarantied to work on everything. I tried it on a computer and I cannot adjust the sound for example, leaving a barely audible sound. Have you tried raising the sound with the program in the volume folder ?

Hello! Is it possible that there's more than one HD Audio controller in your PC? Like maybe there's one hidden in the GPU which isn't actually doing anything? Try running hdastat (available from here) from DOS and see what card(s) it identifies…

EDIT: Just tried it myself and I'd forgotten how much output it spits out! You can pipe the output to a text file and search for the text "found at bus/device/function". It may detect more than one device, or it may fail to detect any device (in which case I'm not sure what to do next… :?).

I don't think that I have several HDA controllers since I got the sound working with a media player for DOS which I downloaded from here: http://rayer.g6.cz/download/download.htm.

Do you know which bus/device/function your HD Audio controller is on? The latest version of the Win3.1 driver allows you to specify them manually in the INI file, which might help.
