Yes, you can virtually run any 16-bit Windows on MS-DOS 6.xx!

I. Install DOS

Obviously, don't forget to install DOS prior Windows 1.x, 2.x or even 3.x (except the NT branch).
[en] MS-DOS 6.22 (4.3 MB) Hits : 7366

II. Install Windows

Download the Windows version you want: viewforum.php?f=34

Extract the archives with 7-Zip, which is probably the best choice (freeware).
Insert the floppy disk n°1 and type on the command prompt:
A:\
Then, type SETUP and follow the instructions on your screen.
To install Windows for Workgroups 3.11 with the Internet support, see another tutorial.

III. Start Windows

When the installation is complete, type:
cd windows
win
Please note you need to load SETVER before running Windows 1.x or 2.x.
Your config.sys file must contain that line: DEVICE=C:\DOS\SETVER.EXE
To run Windows 1.x on MS-DOS 6.xx, you have to type this on the commands prompt:
SETVER WIN100.BIN 3.30
Reboot the computer so that the modifications take effect.

The above text is roughly the English translation of "Comment installer Windows 1.x, 2.x ou 3.x": some parts were edited to emphasize the fact it's possible to run any 16-bit Windows on DOS 6.

Although I translated the tutorial myself, I attributed the previous post to the original author.
